Transformers and Cars Birthday Cake

My son just couldn't decide what kind of cake he wanted for his 4th birthday last July. So, in the end I decided to use my own discretion and made him a Transformers and Cars cake. The upper half is Bumblebee and the lower half is McQueen. The Fallen Four (4) has Bumblebee raising his arm to hit the cake and there is Lightning McQueen dashing out towards the flames with Optimus Prime looking on. Haha...the 4 (candle), Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and McQueen are not made from cake. The toys are made from rubbery materials. Here is a photo of the finished cake...

Tangled Theme Birthday Cake

For my daughter's 6th birthday last September, she wanted a Tangled themed cake. The trickiest part of this cake was the tower and the most tedious was the sun.. The doll and the bridge (minus the leaves) are plastic and purely for decorative purposes. Here are some photos of the cake... I started off with the tower and the arrangement as in the lower left photo but changed it based on my project manager's (a.k.a husband) advice. His input is always crucial for me in all that I do. For this cake, the tower was exasperating and he helped me not give up...

Satay Malaysia @ Kota Bharu

This entry is way past due (almost 2 years!) There are a few entries that got stuck as drafts and I just never got to it, until now that is.

I did not particularly enjoy my visit here which was a shame really, as I had been bugging Hubs to take me here. Well, for starters, the service was quite bad and really slow although at that time the restaurant was almost empty.

It is a large establishment with the option to either sit indoors or outdoors. You have to park alongside the road and I usually used to see a lot of cars (hence my insistence on trying out the food). The satay was alright although I prefer the ones at the Medan Selera Kebun in the town. As for the Nasi Pattaya and the Mee Bandung, I guess it is better to stick to satays in a place called Satay Malaysia.

My customary Sirap Bandung that I only indulged in during my stay in Kota Bharu was to my liking. They are however, very generous with ice cubes.

Nevertheless, if you find yourself in Kota Bharu, head over and give it a try.

Frozen Themed Birthday Cake

I think it is safe to say that almost every parent who has a toddler who is a girl has had to either bake or buy a Frozen themed birthday cake. For my daughter's 5th birthday in 2014, I baked her this doll cake using an Elsa doll as part of her Frozen themed birthday celebration. She was dressed up as Elsa and we took loads of photos of her swooshing and swirling about!

Here are shots of the cake...
